UPDATE: Smith County, TX – Lejuan Keith Holmes Killed and James Whitney Callis Injured in 3-Vehicle Wreck on Highway 64

Smith County, TX (April 13, 2019) On the afternoon of April 11th, a fatal three-vehicle wreck happened on Highway 64 at approximately 3:05 p.m. According to the reports, a 47-year-old man named Lejuan Keith Holmes was operating a 2016 Kia Forte on the highway when he collided with 43-year-old James Whitney Callis who was operating a 2011 Nissan Sentra.

The collision occurred when Holmes switched lanes and struck Callis. The impact of the crash caused the Kia to end up in oncoming traffic and get hit by a 2016 Kenworth truck tractor that was towing a semi-trailer. The driver of the tractor has been identified as 53-year-old Timothy Julius Johnson.

When emergency crews got to the crash site, Holmes had already passed away. They found Callis suffering from injuries and took him to Christus Mother Francis Hospital-Tyler. Johnson appeared to be unharmed after the collision.

Authorities are still investigating the incident, but as of now they’ve confirmed that each driver was wearing a seatbelt.

We wish Lejuan Keith Holmes’ family well as they grieve over their loved one’s lost life. We also wish James Whitney Callis a speedy recovery.
