Waco, TX (May 2, 2019) – On May 1, Waco police and emergency crews responded to the scene of a collision in the 700 block of Olive Street just after 1:30 p.m.

According to reports, an 18-month-old child was struck by a truck in the roadway. The small child was transported to an area hospital where they later succumbed to injuries sustained in the collision.

The case remains under investigation at this time. Initial reports indicated that the child fell off the truck or was struck by the truck, but officers are unsure at this time of the exact cause of the incident.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the child who lost his or her life in this accident.  Our thoughts are with them at this time.

Fatal Pedestrian Accidents In Texas

Motor vehicle accidents continue to be the leading cause of accidental death for small children across the country. Unfortunately, over 56% of these incidents involve child pedestrians who are struck by motor vehicles in roadways.

Given that children are smaller than adults, they are more vulnerable to sustaining serious and fatal injuries in these horrifying incidents. When children are killed in pedestrian accidents, surviving family members should contact a Texas wrongful death attorney as soon as possible. Families may be entitled to compensation to help alleviate funeral expenses and various other damages incurred.
