San Marcos, TX – Pedro Roman-Abarca Killed & Enedina Roman Injured in Fatal Collision on I-35
San Marcos, TX (May 4, 2019) On the evening of May 3rd, a fatal vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 35 at the Highway 123 overpass. A 2010 Honda and a 2014 Ford F150 crashed into each other for reasons unknown.
When the paramedics arrived, they performed CPR on a female passenger in the Honda due to her unresponsiveness. They proceeded to transfer her to Seton Medical Center Hayes in Kyle for immediate surgery. She has been identified as 62-year-old Enedina Roman and her condition is unknown at this time. The driver of the Honda, 68-year-old Pedro Roman-Abarca, was transported to Central Texas Medical Center for treatment, but he passed away despite immediate medical attention. The driver of the Ford was unharmed.
The San Marcos Collision Investigation Team is currently investigating the fatal accident. So far, they claim that both vehicles were driving southbound on the highway when the Honda passed the Ford and suddenly became unstable due to the heavy rain. The Honda hit the center concrete divider and spun into the Ford’s path. The Ford crashed into the Honda on the driver’s side, which caused the Honda to hit the concrete divider again.
Both vehicles were towed off of the highway and it took crews about two hours to clear up the accident.
Our thoughts are with the families of Pedro Roman-Abarca and Enedina Roman during this sad time.
Vehicle Accidents in California
Statistics show that 8 percent of all fatal vehicle accidents are caused by bad weather. It’s very important for drivers to be cautious on the road, which means no speeding, texting, or participating in any other negligent behavior when it’s raining or snowing. Vehicles are more prone to becoming unstable and lose grip on the highways when roads are covered with water and oil. Therefore, drivers should drive slower during these hazardous conditions. If not, they risk harming themselves and others.
