Corpus Christi, TX – Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident on S Staples St

Corpus Christi, TX (June 1, 2019) On the morning of June 1st, a fatal motorcycle crash happened on South Staples Street and Curtis Clark Drive. A man in his 50’s was traveling on his motorcycle on Staples Street when a pickup truck on Curtis Clark Drive made a turn in front of the motorcyclist. The accident happened at around 5:00 p.m.

When emergency crews arrived, they found the motorcyclist lying in the roadway with fatal injuries.

The Corpus Christi Police Department is investigating the accident, but they believe the 19-year-old pickup truck driver failed to yield the right-of-way as he turned at the intersection.

Our thoughts are with the deceased motorcyclist’s family at this time.

Motorcycle Accidents in Texas

In 2013, approximately 494 motorcyclists lost their lives on Texas roads. Sadly, it’s very common for drivers to fail to yield the right-of-way to oncoming motorcyclists at intersections. If drivers are driving aggressively, driving distracted, driving while impaired, or driving fatigued, they’re more prone to disobeying traffic laws and colliding into other motorists.
