Panola County, TX (June 16, 2019) On the afternoon of June 14th, a fatal car accident happened on U.S. 79 and FM 9. A vehicle made a left turn onto the highway without yield the right-of-way. As a result, a red Dodge Ram struck the turning vehicle.

When the paramedics arrived at the scene, they found two occupants inside of the turning car dead at the scene. They have been identified as 45-year-old Jennifer Kay Erwin and 61-year-old Sherry Lynn Hall. The driver of the truck, 27-year-old William Tyler Spears, sustained injuries and was taken to LSU Health in Shreveport. Fortunately, he was in stable condition when he checked in.

The police are still investigating to determine who will be held responsible for the collision.

Our thoughts are with the families of Jennifer Kay Erwin and Sherry Lynn Hall. We also wish William Tyler Spears a complete recovery.

Car Accidents in Texas

UPDATE: Panola County, TX - 2 Killed and 1 Injured in Fatal Car Accident on U.S. 79Statistics show that approximately 25,981 car accidents occurred in Texas when drivers failed to yield the right of way while turning left. When drivers do this, they’re either rushing and hoping the other cars will slow down, or they’re distracted. The reason why failing to yield the right of way is so dangerous is because sometimes drivers are unable to suddenly brake or sometimes other drivers are distracted as well and don’t even notice a car turning, which puts everyone at risk of sustaining fatal injuries.
