Harris County, TX – UPDATE: Galvan Ruiz ID’d As Driver In Boat Crash On San Jacinto River

Harris County, TX (July 4, 2019) – Police officials in Harris County have identified the intoxicated driver involved in a deadly boating crash on Sunday, June 30th. The incident took place on the San Jacinto River near Rio Villa Dr. 

Authorities report the boat struck a bulkhead in the river, resulting in a passenger on board falling overboard. The passenger was not immediately rescued after falling.

Two other passengers had to be taken to local hospitals. One was airlifted and the other taken by ambulance.

The missing passenger was found on Tuesday, July 2nd, at around 6 a.m.

The driver of the boat was identified as 41-year-old Galvan Ruiz of League City who was charged with murder and intoxication assault. 

The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Texas State Parks.
