Gaines County, TX – Marcus Ortega Killed In Motorcycle Crash On US-180

Gaines County, TX (July 10, 2019) – The deceased victim who was involved in a fatal motorcycle crash in Gaines County has been identified by authorities. The accident took place on Monday, July 8th, at around 8:38 a.m. on US-180 near Seminole. 

Texas Department of Public Safety reports that 22-year-old Marcus Ortega was traveling westbound on US-180 while riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle. A driver of a pickup trucking driving eastbound struck Ortega when the pickup turned left, striking the motorcycle. 

Ortega was transported to Seminole Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. 

The driver of the pickup was 60-year-old Carlos Guevara, who was also taken to a hospital for treatment of sustained injuries. 

The crash is currently under investigation.
