Corpus Christi, TX – Woman Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Ayers St
Corpus Christi, TX (July 13, 2019) On the night of July 12th, a pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of Ayers Street and Horne Street. A vehicle that was pulling out of a restaurant struck a pedestrian as she was crossing the street.
When the paramedics and police arrived at the intersection, they found the woman injured in the roadway and rushed her to Christus Spohn Shoreline for immediate care.
Authorities are still investigating, but they cited the driver for failing to yield the right-of-way to the woman. The woman also received a ticket for not walking within a marked crosswalk.
Our thoughts are with the injured woman as she begins recovering.
Pedestrian Accidents in Corpus Christi
In 2018, the Corpus Christi Police Department reported that half of the traffic fatalities recorded involved pedestrians. Unfortunately, it’s very easy for pedestrians to sustain severe, catastrophic, or fatal injuries after being hit by vehicles. All drivers have a legal duty to scan the road for pedestrians at all times, even if pedestrians are walking outside of marked crosswalks. Depending on the details of an accident, drivers can be held partially or fully liable for causing a pedestrian accident, which is why it’s important for injured pedestrians to seek legal help as soon as possible.
At Benton Law Firm, we have been legally assisting injured pedestrians for years with their personal injury lawsuits. We believe in holding all liable parties responsible for compensating injured pedestrians for their injuries as we know medical treatment can be expensive.
