Jefferson County, TX – Victims Of Highway 73 Crash Identified
Jefferson County, TX (July 17, 2019) – Around 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a motor vehicle collision on TX-73 just west of Taylor’s Bayou.
Reports from DPS show that as Buick SUV and a semi-truck were stopped in the eastbound lanes of Highway 73 when the Buick was struck by a speeding van. The force of the impact caused the Buick to go into the ditch and roll over several times.
The stopped 18-wheeler was also struck by the rear of the van.
The driver of the Buick, 27-year-old Dominique Celestine, sustained serious injuries and was transported via ambulance to St. Elizabeth Hospital.
The driver of the van, 47-year-old Christopher Smith, was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital via ambulance.
Three other passengers inside the Buick, who were identified as 35-year-old Brandon Snider, 22-year-old Christopher McDonald, and 41-year-old Preston Bennett, were all injured and transported via ambulance.
The fourth passenger in the van, 61-year-old Thomas Hersey, was airlifted to St. Elizabeth’s hospital.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
