Waco, TX – Man Injured in Pedestrian Accident on E Waco Dr
Waco, TX (July 20, 2019) On the evening of July 19th, a pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of East Waco Drive and Preston Street. A 37-year-old man was crossing Waco Drive when an initial vehicle yielded the right-of-way to him. A pickup truck behind the vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way for the pedestrian and ending up hitting him. The accident took place at around 9:15 p.m.
When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they found that the man had sustained a broken elbow and lost a part of his finger. He was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Authorities are investigating to determine why the pickup truck failed to yield the right-of-way.
We wish the injured man a complete recovery as he begins healing from his injuries.
Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Statistics show that in 2015, about 3,500 pedestrians sustained injuries after vehicles hit them. Failing to yield the right of way is a common cause of pedestrian accidents, especially since drivers can get easily distracted on the road. Common distractions include cell phones, other electronic devices, food, makeup, alcohol, drugs, other passengers, and fatigue. Drivers that fail to drive responsibly on the road and, as a result, strike pedestrians should be held liable for their negligent actions.
At Benton Law Firm, we are passionate about assisting injured pedestrians with their lawsuits because we understand how unfortunate it is to be hit by a vehicle and not only sustain major injuries but also be expected to pay out-of-pocket for treatment. We have helped countless injured pedestrians win their personal injury lawsuits against irresponsible drivers.
