Victoria, TX – Collision On US 59 Results In Fatalities
Victoria, TX (July 22, 2019) – On Saturday, July 20th, at approximately 11 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a major multi-vehicle collision on US 59 just five miles northeast of Victoria.
The accident occurred when a van traveling north along the highway collided with the rear left side of a semi-truck, which was traveling north while pulling a flatbed trailer. The impact of the collision caused the van to drift over into the southbound lane where it collided with an oncoming pickup truck.
Five occupants in the van, including two men, a female driver, and two children, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Five other occupants of the van were injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment of the injuries they sustained in the accident.
The driver and passenger of the pickup truck were both injured and transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
