Victoria, TX – US Highway 59 Crash Victims Identified
Victoria, TX (July 24, 2019) – On July 20, around 11 a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety arrived at the scene of a three-vehicle collision on US Highway 59 just northeast of Victoria.
Reports from DPS state that a white 2016 Ford van was heading north on Highway 59 when, for unknown reasons, it crashed into the rear left side of a semi-truck. The impact from the collision caused the van to drift into the southbound lane where it collided with a 2015 Ford F-250 pickup truck.
The five occupants of the van, later identified as 42-year-old Nora Gabriela Chavez, 45-year-old Oscar Chavez, 47-year-old Adrian Rodriguez Leal, a 6-year-old boy, and a 13-year-old girl, all sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.
Five other occupants, as well as two occupants in the Ford pickup, were transported to Citizens Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities later confirmed the identity of the two occupants of the pickup truck to be 55-year-old Oscar Daniel Garza and 51-year-old Anna Lee Bettancourt.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
