Baytown, TX – 37 Injured In ExxonMobil Explosion On Decker Drive

Baytown, TX (July 31, 2019) – On July 31, just after noon, the Baytown Police and emergency crews responded to the scene of an explosion at the ExxonMobil plant located on Decker Drive.

According to reports, a crew of crane workers was moving pipes at the plant when, for unknown reasons, the pipes exploded. The force of the explosion caused the crane to lift up as workers began running away from the scene.

Shortly after the explosion, flames began to burst out into the air, filling the plant with smoke and fire.

By 1 p.m., six workers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the explosion. This number escalated to 37 by 2:30 p.m. A plant manager from ExxonMobil confirmed that 37 workers were transported to an off-site clinic for medical treatment to injuries.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
