Bicycle Accidents in Texas

Austin, TX - 1 Killed in Fatal Bicycle Accident on I-35 and Ben White BlvdIn 2012, over 700 bicyclists were fatally injured after being hit by vehicles. Most bicycle accidents happen because of negligent driving, which consists of distractions, fatigue, alcohol, drugs, as well as other distractions. Because bicycles are very thin and nowhere near as sturdy as vehicles, it’s easy for riders to eject off of their bikes or end up under vehicles after being hit. Bicycles are small enough to fit in between vehicles and in their blind spots. Therefore, drivers must be more aware of their surroundings in the event that bicyclists are nearby.
