Austin, TX – 3 Injured in Fire at Woodland Heights Apartment on N I-35
Austin, TX (October 6, 2019) On the morning of October 5th, the Austin Fire Department rushed to put out an apartment fire at the Woodland Heights Apartments, located at 8312 North Interstate Highway 35.
Around 3:30 p.m., a father and his two children jumped out of a window to escape the fire at the apartment building. When the fire department arrived, they found the father suffering from burns and lacerations and the two children suffering from possible smoke inhalation. All three victims were rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center for treatment.
The accident is still under investigation, but reporters confirmed that there were no smoke detectors in the apartment.
Our thoughts are with the three injured victims and their families at this time. We wish them all a full recovery.
Premise Liability in Texas
Every year, around 11,670 people sustain injuries after being involved in house fires nationwide. When individuals sustain injuries from hazards on a property, they may be entitled to file a personal injury lawsuit against the property owner. Property owners are responsible for placing clear warning signs throughout their property if they know certain areas are hazardous. They are also responsible for making sure their property is safe before allowing others access.
When property owners fail to maintain a safe environment for others, their lack of care may result in injuries, which they should be held responsible for covering. At The Benton Law Firm, our experienced premises liability attorneys work hard to help injured individuals receive fair compensation if they were hurt on unsafe property.
