Wood County, TX – Fire on County Rd 3859 Results in Fatal Injuries
Wood County, TX (December 3, 2019) – A Thanksgiving Day house fire claimed two victims’ lives.
On November 28, at approximately 11:55 p.m., authorities responded to the scene of a house fire in the 1100 block of County Road 3859.
According to reports, 30-year-old Courtney Jean Cline Mendez, and her partner, 34-year-old Benjamin Mendez Jr., were home with their four children when a fire broke out in their home.
Both Courtney and Benjamin Mendez were sleeping at the time the fire broke out.
The eldest of their four children round up the other three and guided them out of the home safely.
Unfortunately, both parents were trapped inside the home, sustaining fatal injuries.
At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
