Herlinda Castro Dies After Driver Runs A Stop Sign in Central El Paso

El Paso, TX (February 5, 2020)- Herlinda Castro died and two others were injured when a driver failed to stop at a sign in Central El Paso on Wednesday February 5th.  The collision occurred around 6:45 p.m. on North Piedras Street and Harrison Avenue. The driver of a 2015 Dodge Challenger ran the stop sign and broadsided Castro’s 2003 Ford Explorer. Herlinda Castro, her 18-year-old passenger Ashley Saucedo and the driver of the Challenger were all taken to University Medical Center for their injuries, where Castro passed away.  A police news release stated that the driver’s failure to yield the right of way and high speed were key factors in the wreck and charges are currently pending.
