28-Year-Old Sevannah Shay Mata Killed in DUI Crash on TX 46 at Center Street in New Braunfels

New Braunfels, TX. (November 5, 2020)- Sevannah Shay Mata was killed in a two-vehicle crash on November 1, 2020 in New Braunfels, Texas. The accident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on TX 46 at Center Street. Police reported that the driver of a northbound Dodge pickup truck veered into the southbound lanes and crashed head-on into a Kia Optima. The Dodge driver and their 6-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Kia was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center with serious injuries. Mata, a passenger in the Kia, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge truck was arrested and faces an Intoxication Manslaughter charge. No further details have been provided at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
