Kashara Jackson Killed, Two Injured in DUI Crash on South Loop 289 at Slide Road in Lubbock

Lubbock, TX. (August 25, 2021)- 17-year-old Kashara Jackson was killed, and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash on August 19, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas. The accident occurred just before 1:00 a.m. in the area of South Loop 289 and Slide Road. Police reported that the driver of a southbound Ford F-550 collided with a westbound Jeep Grand Cherokee. Kashara, a passenger in the Jeep, was pronounced dead at the scene. 20-year-old Alexus Jackson, the driver of the Jeep, was transported to University Medical Center with moderate injuries. 21-year-old Nathaniel Ruiz was walking along the sidewalk at the time of the accident. He sustained minor injuries from the crash debris. The driver of the Ford fled the scene on foot but was later located. The Ford driver was charged with intoxication manslaughter, failure to stop and render aid and evading arrest. The crash remains under investigation.
