Sylvia Martinez De Garza Killed, Two Injured in DUI Crash on East Trenton Road in Edinburg
Edinburg, TX. (December 29, 2021)- 65-year-old Sylvia Martinez De Garza was killed, and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash on December 25, 2021, in Edinburg, Texas. The accident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. in the 400 block of East Trenton Road. Police reported that a westbound pickup truck crossed into eastbound lanes and crashed head-on into a Nissan Sentra occupied by the victims. De Garza was transported to Edinburg Regional Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. The two Nissan passengers were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene but was later located and charged with intoxication manslaughter, two counts of intoxication assault and accident involving injury or death. No further details have been provided at this time. The crash remains under investigation.
