3 semis strike police vehicle on I-20, injuring 2 officers
FORT WORTH, TX – Medics transported two police officers to the hospital after a crash involving a police vehicle and three 18-wheelers along the interstate in Fort Worth, reports WFAA 8.
The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 8900 block of the Ronald Reagan Memorial Highway, which is just south of the VA Department of Veterans Affairs.
Authorities say that two police officers had parked their cruiser along the interstate to check on the victims from an earlier crash. While they were parked, a semi-truck jackknifed and struck the cruiser.
An officer from inside of the cruiser sustained minor injuries in the crash. He exited the vehicle as soon as possible and joined a second officer on the median while two additional semi-trucks struck the cruiser.
Both officers went to the hospital for treatment. A full investigation is underway.
