Single-vehicle rollover on Story Rd kills Irving teen
IRVING, TX – One teen died, and two were seriously injured when their vehicle crashed and overturned last Wednesday in Irving, reports NBCDFW 5.
The incident happened around 1:15 p.m. in the area of 3900 Story Road, which is just southeast of Cottonwood Creek Park.
The investigation indicates that five teens left school during the National School Walkout Day and shoplifted alcoholic beverages from a local grocery store.
The teen driver lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a tree, at which point the car overturned multiple times.
The force of the collision threw one of the passengers from the vehicle. That person died at the scene of the accident.
Two other passengers sustained serious injuries in the crash, and another two passengers fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
Police suspect the driver may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident. They say the car had been stripped of all seats except for the driver’s seat, so that the passengers in the vehicle were riding without proper restraints.
The investigation is ongoing.
