2 killed in 2-car head-on crash on US-83 in Hawley

HAWLEY, TX – Both a 39-year-old man and a 64-year-old man died Thursday morning after their two vehicles collided along the highway in Hawley, reports San Angelo Live.

The incident happened around 4:39 a.m. on the southbound side of US-83 near mile marker 312, which is just west of the Twisted Oaks Golf Course.

The investigation indicates that the driver of a northbound Impala entered the southbound lanes of US-83 and collided head-first with a southbound Camaro.

Both drivers died from injuries sustained in the collision. Officials identified the driver of the Impala as Kyle Stephenson of Abilene.

The driver of the Camaro was identified as Odell Griggs Jr.  of Stamford.

Medics also transported a passenger from the Impala to the hospital with critical injuries.

A full investigation is underway.
