1 killed, 1 injured in multi-vehicle hit-and-run on I-30 EB at Second Ave
DALLAS, TX – A Good Samaritan died, and a passenger went to the hospital after a series of two collisions along the interstate in Dallas on Saturday morning.
According to WFAA News 8, the incident happened around 2:28 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-30 near South Second Avenue, which is just west of the State Fair of Texas and the African American Museum of Dallas.
The investigation thus far indicates that a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe struck a 25-year-old man, identified as Donald Collins, as he attempted to help the occupants of a minivan, which had been struck earlier by a red tow truck. The red tow truck fled the scene after the initial crash. The Chevy Tahoe hit both the Good Samaritan and the minivan.
Collins died after transport to a local hospital, and a passenger from the minivan sustained non-critical injuries.
Police arrested the 33-year-old driver of the Tahoe on charges of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
Authorities are still searching for the red tow truck.
The investigation is ongoing.
