Hit-and-run driver strikes, kills motorcycle officer on I-20WB near Dowdy Ferry

DALLAS, TX – Police have provided additional details regarding the motorcycle accident that killed an Arlington Police Officer on Thursday morning in Dallas.

As reported by CBS News, the incident happened around 5:30 a.m. Thursday on the westbound side of I-20 near Dowdy Ferry Road, which is in southeast Dallas.

The investigation thus far indicates that Officer Darrin McMichael was travelling to work when he struck the back of an SUV after traffic stopped suddenly. McMichael fell from his bike, at which point a sedan struck him in the roadway and then fled the scene.

Medics transported McMichael to a local hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say the suspect may have been driving a dark-colored Chrysler or Dodge sedan-type vehicle. They ask for anyone with information about the accident to contact the Dallas or Arlington Police Department.
