1 killed, 2 injured in alleged DUI crash at Monticello and N Central Expy
DALLAS, TX – A 19-year-old SMU student died on Sunday afternoon after an alleged drunk driver struck her vehicle at a busy Dallas intersection.
According to The Daily Campus, the incident happened just after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Monticello Avenue and the service road for the North Central Expressway, which is south of the Mockingbird Station Shopping Center.
Police say that a 27-year-old alleged drunk driver, identified as Lynlee Polis, neglected to stop at a red light and collided with an eastbound vehicle in the intersection.
The driver of the second vehicle, identified as Honor Wallace, died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Wallace’s passenger, Cece Solberg, went to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
Medics also transported Polis to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Upon her release, authorities charged her with both intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault.
The investigation is ongoing.
