1 killed, 2 hurt when vehicle strikes man on TX-183EB in Irving

IRVING, TX – A man died early Saturday morning in Irving when a vehicle struck him along the highway as he attempted to change his tire, reports NBC DFW 5. 

The incident happened around 4 a.m. on the eastbound side of TX-183, just east of Loop 12, which is just southeast of the University of Dallas.

The investigation indicates that a driver’s car became disabled after a problem with his tire. The man stopped and exited his vehicle in a lane of traffic. While changing the tire, another vehicle struck the man, and he died at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.

The driver of the vehicle and a passenger sustained non-critical injuries.

Officials closed the roadway in the area of the crash while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
