Fatality reported in crash involving 2 semis at I-45NB at I-30

DALLAS, TX – At least one person died Friday afternoon in a collision involving two 18-wheelers along the interstate in the Deep Ellum area of Dallas, reports the Dallas Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened sometime before 12:23 p.m. on the northbound side of I-45 at the junction with I-30, which is just west of City Square and east of the Government District.

The cause and circumstances of the collision are still largely unknown. Police say that two semi-trucks collided and that the accident blocked several lanes of traffic on I-45 northbound.

Authorities have not named any victims, nor have they indicated if there were additional injuries.

Officials encouraged motorists to avoid the area and to seek alternate routes while crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
