Good Samaritan struck, killed on Hwy 114 near Freeport Pkwy in Irving
IRVING, TX – One person died late Saturday night after a vehicle struck them as they walked along the highway in northwest Irving, reports DFW Scanner.
The incident happened around 11:32 p.m. on the eastbound side of Highway 114 near Freeport Parkway, which is just northeast of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.
Police say the victim had parked and exited their own vehicle to assist the victims of a prior crash who were arguing in the center lane of the highway. A vehicle struck the Good Samaritan as they were walking across Highway 114 towards the site of the earlier crash.
The pedestrian died at the scene of the accident. Authorities have not yet released their identity.
The driver involved in the pedestrian accident remained at the scene to render aid and speak with authorities.
Officials closed the eastbound lanes of the highway in the area of the accident while crews worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
