Elderly pedestrian struck, killed at W Front and S Peach in Tyler

TYLER, TX – A 79-year-old man sustained fatal injuries when a vehicle struck him Monday at a busy intersection on the west side of Tyler, reports KLTV 7.

The incident happened in the morning near the intersection of West Front Streat and South Peach Avenue, which is at the northeast corner of Tyler Rose Garden.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances of the crash except to say that the pedestrian was not in a designated crosswalk at the time of the accident.

The victim died from his injuries around 11:30 a.m. Officials identified him as Evencio Arellano.

The driver involved in the accident remained at the scene to render aid and speak with police.

Officials closed roadways in the area of the accident while crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
