2 injured in school bus crash on FM 55 in S Ellis County

ELLIS CO., TX – Two people went to the hospital Friday when an Avalon ISD school bus left the roadway in south-central Ellis County.

According to NBC DFW 5, the incident happened on FM 55 near Avalon, which is south of Nash and northeast of Italy.

Police say that the driver of the school bus left the roadway to avoid colliding with a Maserati. The latter vehicle had veered onto the wrong side of the roadway just before the school bus ran into a ditch.

One adult and one child from the bus sustained non-critical injuries.

The two occupants of the Maserati were unhurt in the accident.

A full investigation is underway to determine what caused the driver of the Maserati to enter the wrong side of the highway.
