Crash involving cow on CR 2142 near Tatum kills 2 motorcyclists
RUSK CO., TX – Two men died last Tuesday in two separate motorcycle accidents caused by livestock in the roadway in northwestern Rusk County.
According to KETK News, the two incidents occurred around 2:23 a.m. and 2:28 a.m. on CR 2142 just west of Tatum. This is about an hour east of Tyler.
Police say that a 58-year-old motorcyclist first collided with a cow on CR 2142 and sustained fatal injuries. Just five minutes later, a 53-year-old motorcyclist struck the same cow on the same road. He also died at the scene.
Authorities identified the victims as Jerry Moore and Michael Moore, both of Tatum.
It’s unclear if the cow escaped from property in the area.
A full investigation is underway.
