Cyclist killed, hit-and-run driver charged after crash near Gateway Park
FORT WORTH, TX – A 49-year-old cyclist died on Saturday after a vehicle struck him at a busy Fort Worth intersection and fled the scene, reports NBC DFW 5.
The incident happened just before 6 a.m. in the area of East 1st Street and Beach Street, which is just northwest of Gateway Park.
Authorities declared the bicyclist, identified as Daniel Frost of Fort Worth, deceased at the scene of the crash.
Police say the collision likely occurred several blocks away from where they found the victim’s body. They suspect that the vehicle may have drug the bicycle while fleeing the scene.
Officials located and charged a suspect in the accident on Sunday. They’ve identified the suspect as 26-year-old Rolando Cruz. Cruz faces charges of a collision involving death.
The investigation is ongoing.
