Crash caused by broken stoplight at N Buckner and Chenault kills 1

DALLAS, TX – One person died Friday after a two-vehicle crash involving a two-truck at busy intersection on the east side of Dallas, reports WFAA News 8.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of North Buckner Boulevard and Chenault Street, which is just east of Harold Wendell Lang Senior Middle School.

The investigation thus far indicates that a traffic signal malfunctioned, causing a southbound tow truck to collide with an eastbound car as the latter vehicle was turning left on North Buckner Boulevard.

The second driver died at the scene of the accident. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.

Medics transported a passenger from the vehicle to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

The 36-year-old driver of the pickup truck did not require hospitalization for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
