Driver killed after causing two crashes on W Division in Arlington
ARLINGTON, TX – A drunk driver died Friday night after crashing into a bus along a busy roadway in central Arlington, reports NBC DFW 5.
The incident happened around 7 p.m. near the intersection of West Division Street and Davis Drive, which is just northwest of the University of Texas at Arlington.
Police say the driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze CZT fled an earlier crash in the area of 600 West Division Street. The driver of the Cruze left the scene of that initial crash when another driver accused him of being intoxicated.
The alleged DUI driver sped westbound away from the first crash, ran the red light at Davis, and collided with an eastbound Ford bus. The force of this collision threw the unrestrained driver of the Cruze from his vehicle, and he died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released his identity to the public.
Medics transported the bus driver to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
