21-year-old killed in hit-and-run on I-20 WB near Matlock

ARLINGTON, TX – A 21-year-old woman died Sunday after a vehicle struck her and her car along the interstate in south-central Arlington, reports DFW Scanner.

The incident occurred around 5:01 a.m. on the westbound side of I-20 near Matlock Road. This is just east of the Parks Mall at Arlington.

Police say a westbound pickup truck entered the shoulder of I-20 and hit both the victim and her car. The woman had parked in the shoulder and exited her vehicle after experiencing mechanical problems.

The victim died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her identity to the public.

The driver of the pickup truck fled the scene and abandoned their vehicle in a nearby parking lot.

A full investigation is underway to locate the suspect.
