Crews respond after semi hauling yogurt ignites on I-45 NB near Wilmer

DALLAS CO., TX – Officials closed several lanes of the interstate in east Dallas County on Tuesday morning when a semi-truck caught fire, reports WFAA News 8.

The incident happened sometime before noon on the northbound side of I-45 between Ferris and Wilmer. This is 15 to 20 miles southeast of Dallas.

Police say the 18-wheeler was carrying yogurt, which spilled into the roadway when the truck ignited.

Officials say that a mechanical issue may have caused the fire.

It’s not clear if anyone experienced injuries as a result of the blaze.

Drivers likely experienced delays along I-45 as crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
