Multi-vehicle crash on Hwy 155 just north of I-20 in Winona kills 1, injures 4

WINONA, TX – A multi-vehicle crash along the highway in northeast Smith County killed one person and hurt four others on Sunday, reports KETK.

The accident happened around 4:55 p.m. on Highway 155 just north of I-20 in the city of Winona. This is about 13 miles northeast of Tyler.

Police haven’t yet determined the cause of the collision, which they say involved three vehicles. Two people required extrication after becoming trapped in their vehicle(s), and one person died at the scene of the accident. Authorities have not disclosed the name of the deceased.

Medics ultimately transported four people to the hospital with unspecified injuries.

Motorists likely encountered substantial delays along Highway 155 while crews worked to clear the scene.
