Crash involving pickup and 3 motorcycles on TX-198 in Payne Springs kills 2, injures 2
PAYNE SPRINGS, TX – Two motorcyclists died Tuesday night in a four-vehicle collision along the highway in northwest Henderson County, reports KTEN 10.
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. on TX-198 in the city of Payne Springs, which is about 62 miles southeast of Dallas.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a GMC 2500 pickup carrying two people veered into an oncoming lane of traffic and struck two motorcycles along the highway. A third motorcycle was hit by debris from the crash.
Two of the motorcycle operators died, while the third was unhurt. Authorities identified the victims as 52-year-old John Berkley and 32-year-old Levi Lott.
Medics transported the 45-year-old driver of the pickup truck, identified as William Coker, and a female passenger, 34-year-old Megan Lee, to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
A full investigation is underway to determine what caused the driver of the pickup truck to enter the wrong lane of traffic.
