Multi-vehicle crash involving semi on I-820 at White Settlement kills 1

FORT WORTH, TX – One person died, and another was injured early Thursday along the freeway on the west side of Fort Worth, reports NBC DFW 5.

The accident happened just before 1:30 a.m. at West Loop 820 South Freeway and White Settlement Road. This is in the White Settlement area, just southwest of Veterans Park.

An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is underway. Thus far, police say that an 18-wheeler and several other vehicles were involved.

A driver from one of the vehicles died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identity to the public.

Medics transported one other person to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Officials closed West Loop 820 in the area of the collision while emergency teams attended to the victims, and crews worked to clear the wreckage.
