Wrong-way collision on TX-62 near CR 806 in Jasper Co. kills James Duke, John Andel
JASPER CO., TX – A head-on crash involving a pickup truck and an SUV killed two men last Thursday night in south-central Jasper County, reports 12 News Now.
The accident happened just around 11:40 p.m. on TX-62 near County Road 806. This is just south of the city of Buna and about 37 miles north of Beaumont.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a southbound 2013 Chevrolet Traverse SUV crossed onto the northbound side of TX-62 and crashed head-on into a northbound 2017 Ford F-150 pickup. The impact of the collision caused the SUV and the pickup truck to catch fire.
Both drivers died from injuries sustained in the accident. Authorities identified the wrong-way driver as 20-year-old James Duke and the driver of the Ford as 33-year-old John Andel.
A full investigation is underway.
