Police investigate semi crash with oil spill at I-20 WB near CR 438

LINDALE, TX – Emergency teams responded to a major accident involving an overturned semi along the interstate in northwest Smith County on Thursday, reports KLTV 7.

The accident happened before noon on the westbound side of I-20, just east of County Road 438. This is southwest of of Lindale.

It’s not yet clear what caused the 18-wheeler to overturn. Police say the accident caused the truck to spill oil into the roadway. A hazmat team reported to the scene to assist with the clean-up effort.

At this time, there’s no word about injuries, nor do we know if any other vehicles were involved.

Motorists experienced significant delays along I-20 in the area of the crash while crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
