Child critically hurt in solo crash at Arden and Lancaster, driver arrested

DALLAS, TX – An intoxicated driver left a 9-year-old boy with serious injuries alone at the scene of a single-vehicle collision in south-central Dallas, reports NBC DFW 5.

The accident happened around 12:30 a.m. in the area of Arden Road and South Lancaster Road, which is east of Glendale Park and west of Arden Terrace Park.

Emergency teams at the scene found the young boy in a crashed vehicle with critical injuries. They say the driver of the vehicle, identified as 39-year-old Monica Tutt, was likely under the influence when she struck an unoccupied car parked along the street. Tutt then left the scene on foot.

Medics transported the child to an area hospital with critical injuries.

Authorities later located Tutt and arrested her on charges of intoxication assault and collision involving injury.

The investigation is ongoing.
