Head-on crash during police chase on Hwy 59 in Humble kills 1

HUMBLE, TX – A wrong-way collision during a police chase along the highway northwest of Houston killed a 40-year-old woman last Wednesday, reports abc 13.

The incident occurred after 7 p.m. on the northbound frontage road of US-59, not far from Coburn’s of North Houston and Rankin Road.

The investigation thus far indicates that police were pursuing a stolen vehicle when the suspect drove southbound on the northbound side of the US-59 frontage road. The suspect’s vehicle crashed head-on into a silver Kia carrying a man and a woman.

Medics transported the driver and passenger from the Kia to an area hospital, where the driver soon died from injuries sustained in the accident. Authorities identified her as Esoterica Spivey of Houston.

There’s no word yet on the condition of the Kia’s passenger, who was Spivey’s fiance.

Police arrested the driver of the suspected stolen vehicle, identified as 25-year-old Sebastian Rene Sanchez. Sanchez faces charges of homicide and felony evading.

The investigation is ongoing.
