A&M professor struck, killed by city garbage truck on Atlas Pear Dr

COLLEGE STATION, TX – A garbage truck struck and fatally injured a 50-year-old Texas A&M professor last Tuesday in College Station, reports KBTX. 

The accident happened in the morning on Atlas Pear Drive near Lake Walk at Traditions. This is just west of Texas A&M University Research Park.

Police haven’t yet shared any details about the circumstances of the crash except to say that it resulted in fatal injuries for Dr. Hilaire Kallendorf, who taught Hispanic and Religious Studies at Texas A&M.

There’s no word yet regarding the identity or condition of the garbage truck driver, who is employed with the City of College Station.

City officials halted all garbage services in College Station on Tuesday with a goal to resume the following day.

Additionally, authorities closed roads in the area of the accident while crews gathered evidence and worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
