Head-on crash along Ric Williamson in NE Weatherford kills child

WEATHERFORD, TX – An 8-year-old boy died Wednesday afternoon in a wrong-way collision along the highway in northwest Weatherford, reports DFW Scanner.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. on the Ric Williamson Memorial Highway near Sand Dollar Trail. This is just southwest of Mary Martin Elementary School and north of US-180.

Police say that for unknown reasons, the driver of a southbound vehicle entered the northbound side of the highway and crashed head-on into a northbound vehicle.

Medics transported both drivers to area hospitals with unspecified injuries.

A child passenger sustained fatal injuries. It’s unclear which vehicle he was riding in at the time of the accident, nor do we know if he was properly restrained.

A full investigation is underway.
