18-wheeler strikes, kills Austin man along I-35 in SW New Braunfels
NEW BRAUNFELS, TX – A 31-year-old man died Thursday in a pedestrian crash along the interstate in the Magnolia Springs area of New Braunfels, reports Fox 7 Austin.
The accident happened before 9:30 a.m. in the 6000 block of I-35. This is near the Animal World Snake Farm and Zoo.
Police say that Austin Michael Arp died at the scene when an 18-wheeler struck him along the interstate. It’s unclear if Arp was attempting to cross I-35, or if he may have been standing or walking along the shoulder.
The truck driver did stop to render aid and speak with authorities. At this time, police do not expect that the truck driver will face charges associated with the accident.
Drivers likely experienced significant delays along I-35 on Thursday morning while emergency teams responded to the wreck.
A full investigation is underway.
