2nd grade teacher killed in wrong-way crash on Thomas Arnold Rd in Salado
SALADO, TX – A local school teacher sustained fatal injuries last Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash along Thomas Arnold Road in south-central Bell County, reports Temple Daily Telegram.
The accident happened just before 5:20 p.m. between Brewer Road and Gated Road. This is near Tenroc Event Centers Inc. on the western outskirts of Salado.
The preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound 1988 Ford pickup collided head-on with a westbound 2017 Honda Accord. It’s unclear which vehicle entered oncoming traffic to cause the accident.
Medics transported both drivers and a 9-year-old boy from the Honda to an area hospital. The driver of the Honda, identified as 49-year-old Kimberly Kosh-Ruiz, died shortly thereafter. The child, who is Kosh-Ruiz’s son, is still recovering.
The 26-year-old driver of the Ford sustained non-critical injuries.
Officials say that Kosh-Ruiz taught second grade at Thomas Arnold Elementary School, which is just southeast of the crash site and also on Thomas Arnold Road.
A full investigation is underway.
