DUI driver strikes, kills woman on FM 2854 near Allen Dr in Conroe

CONROE, TX – A 25-year-old woman died early Sunday when a DUI driver struck her along a major roadway in central Montgomery County.

According to the Montgomery County Police Reporter, the incident occurred around 1:15 a.m. on FM 2854 near Allen Drive. This is west of McDade Park and about forty miles north of Houston.

Police say that a westbound vehicle carrying a woman and two children struck a female pedestrian in the roadway.

Authorities pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. They’ve not yet released her name to the public.

Neither the driver of the vehicle, identified as 34-year-old Laura Vega Munz, nor the two children in the backseat were hurt.

Police arrested Vega on charges that include driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age.

Officials closed FM 2854 while crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
