2-vehicle crash involving semi on TX-302 near Kermit kills 1

WINKLER CO., TX – A 26-year-old Alabama man died last Tuesday in a two-vehicle crash involving a semi along the highway near Kermit, reports YourBasin.

The accident happened just before 10:30 p.m. on the westbound side of TX-302 near mile marker 221. TX-302 runs southwest to northwest through the middle of Winkler County.

Police say that a westbound 18-wheeler collided with a westbound 2004 Ford Mustang when the driver of the latter vehicle attempted to make a U-turn in the roadway.

The driver of the Mustang died at the scene of the accident. Authorities identified him as Callejas Maldonado Alfredo of Tuscaloosa.

The driver of the semi did not sustain injuries in the crash.

Motorists likely experienced delays along TX-302 in the area of the crash while crews worked to clear the scene.

A full investigation is underway.
